Happy New Year from Camp Overlook! We are hoping and looking forward to a fun year ahead.

We finished December with a full last week by hosting a Christmas Brunch, our annual Walk to the Manger, and two outside groups having Winter Camp. We were able to catch our breath over New Year’s but the rest of January is heating up.

We are looking forward to our Winter Camp to be held January 16 – 18 in the Agape Hill cabins. This is a great opportunity for Campers to try out camp for a couple of days/nights or for returners to experience camp in the colder months and do some of the activities that you love from the summer. This year’s theme is “Inside Out”. We will be talking about using what you learn at Church (and Camp) in your everyday life at school and play. There are many fun games and crafts planned and of course there will be worship, food, and singing. Cost for the Weekend is $125 and includes lodging, a Long-sleeve t-shirt, 3 meals on Saturday, and 2 meals on Sunday. Register on our website at campoverlook.org/events.

In January we will also be hosting the Emmaus 4th Day Renewal Retreats. The Women’s weekend is January 23 – 24 and the Men’s weekend is January 30 – 31. These retreats are designed for individuals that have participated in a full Emmaus weekend. The retreats are held in the Blessings Lodge where all linens are provided and you can sit by the fireplace during your downtime. Cost for the retreat is $85 which includes your lodging and Dinner on Friday and Breakfast and Lunch on Saturday. Registration can be found on our website, campoverlook.org/events.

Registration for Summer Camp is now open. This year’s theme is “The Missionary Journeys of Paul.” Come learn about the way that Paul navigates spreading the message of Christ’s life throughout the Mediterranean. We will get our hands dirty doing a little mission work around camp as well as doing our normal camp activities. Register before Easter (April 4) to receive an Early Bird Discount. Applications for Summer Staff are also available. Counselors in Training start at age 16 and work primarily with our Day Camp. Overnight Counselors begin at age 18. To register or apply, check out the website. If you have any questions, contact the Camp Office.

If you would like Chad to come speak to your church or small group, let him know at chadhrbek@vaumc.org. We appreciate all the support we get from the Shenandoah River District throughout the year.
