First, our prayers continue for our President, Mary Preston. She has been a great inspiration to so many and is certainly a true example of a woman of faith.
We had a wonderful gathering at Shenandoah County Park on August 15th. It was truly a “get-to-know-you” event, providing an opportunity for fellowship and connection. I hope this gathering will encourage us to have as many in-person activities as possible in the future.
As we move into the fall, we are making preparations for our District Annual Meeting on October 1st and, later, the Conference UWF Annual Meeting on Saturday, October 24th. The Conference Annual Meeting will be held at Shady Grove UMC in Mechanicsville, Virginia. It is always encouraging to hear about the many activities and events that make our UWF such an important ministry to others.
What a blessing it is to be part of such a wonderful group of women! Our love and commitment are so evident as we answer the call to serve together, being the hands and feet of Christ.
I especially appreciated the words of our General Secretary, Sally Vonner: “We have dreamed it, believed it, and now together, let’s do it.” What a wonderful thought to carry with us as we make plans for the coming year!
I close with this prayer:
Heavenly Father, help us to feel Your presence as we dream of greater possibilities. May our hope become Your promise to guide us. Help us to believe in what we can do together that will make a difference for someone else. Walk with us as we work to glorify You. Amen.
